Hello! Welcome to the blog! As this is the first post I wanted to give a short introduction and background story of this blog.
Over the past five years I have developed a love for writing. I found that when I need to express myself, whether that be while I am praying, thinking of a particular memory, working out a difficult philosophical problem, or expressing my love and gratitude toward someone, writing it out always seems to be the best way. I can imagine that it is akin to an artist creating a piece of art. It starts with an idea, a feeling, or a thought, and slowly, it unravels and reveals itself onto the canvas, culminating in the beautiful thing that we call art. Now I don’t want to get too ahead of myself comparing my blog writing with beautiful works of art but I believe the process to be similar.
Seeing your thoughts written out on a page can be quite a difficult and revealing process. I have looked back through a number of my journals from the past and could barely get through a few pages without cringing and thinking to myself, “What the heck was going on with me?” Even though much of the content was cringeworthy I am glad it is written down, it was a way of going back to those memories, those feelings, looking at the situation from the perspective of future me. Okay before I get too introspective and emotional let’s move on shall we?
The title of this blog is To Seek and Find. I am driven by the fact that we are not here on accident, every single one of us has a whole world of possibilities and potentialities at our fingerprints, however that may look on the individual level. That fact is based upon something even more fundamental, which Genesis lays out for us, “Let us make humankind in Our image, according to Our likeness”(Genesis 1:26a). Without getting too much into the nitty-gritty of what it means to be made in the image of God, I will highlight just two important things.
God, when He set out to create all things, first set things in order, gave them purpose and structure, and then He filled the world with life. So, if we were made in His image, and according to His likeness, we are to join God in setting things in order, bringing order out of chaos, and filling the world with life. Okay, building off of both of these fundamental facts, according to me, we are not here on accident, and being made in the image of God, how does this relate to the here and now, to the everyday and mundane?
To Seek and Find is here to do exactly that, discover what it means in our everyday lives to me made for a particular purpose and in the image of God. To discover this, we will take a look into the Bible, picking apart particular stories, and zooming out to look at the overarching narrative. We will also take everyday experiences and reflect on how these fundamental truths flesh themselves out in our lives. From the mundane to the spectacular, discovering, seeking, and finding God together.
I hope that you will enjoy the content and feel free to engage with the ideas, stories, and reflections that will be shared on this blog through posting your comments. The hope is that this will turn into a community, spurring one another on to continually coming into our identity and purpose as creatures of a good and loving God.
Many blessings and God-speed to you fellow adventurer.
